CTRPs, and the insulin-sensitizing adipokine adiponectin, belong to the C1q family, resemble each other in overall domain structure and organization, and share sequence homology with the globular domain of immune complement C1q. The expression of EMT associated marker genes in ovarian cancer cells are similar to what we observed in MCF7 breast cancer cells. Next we will discuss the details of these hypotheses; now we will point out only that their formalizations are generally considered as empiric models lacking in mechanistic content, what is not completely true.
